New Wonder Woman Trailer To Play in Theaters With Doctor Strange

The latest Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Doctor Strange, is set to arrive on North American screens this weekend, with positive early word of mouth and high expectations. Meanwhile, the next film in the rival DCEU, Wonder Woman, is scheduled to arrive next June, giving a full showcase to Gal Gadot’s interpretation of the superhero character.

The two separate rival universes may represent the product of different corporations, different movie studios, different comic book publishers, and very different core cinematic styles. But despite all that, Marvel and DC film releases do tend to play the same movie theaters. And now, the latest blockbuster movie of one will be advertised prior to the other.

The new trailer for Wonder ...

It’s that time of year again, when ghosts and ghouls come out to play and cosplay is embraced by everyone. With grown-ups, kids, animals and even celebrities all getting in on the action, half the fun of Halloween is simply seeing all the creative and painstakingly crafted costumes that people come up with. Already we’ve spotted the Silver Surfer skateboarding through the streets of New York, and that was just the tip of the iceberg.

Halloween also serves as a reflection of the past year and everything that has happened in it, with popular costumes from the past weekend including Stranger Things‘ Eleven and Suicide Squad‘s Harley Quinn. Lots of partygoers picked up a leather jacket and a barbed-wire bat to become The Walking ...

Star Wars The Force Awakens Luke Skywalker Star Wars 8: Luke Skywalker Costume Description Emerges

In the opening crawl for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, viewers read that Luke Skywalker had vanished. By the time that film ended, the old Jedi Master was found by Rey on the planet Ahch-To in apparent self-imposed isolation, being asked to take his old lightsaber and rejoin the fight. The Lucasfilm story group has not revealed much of what Luke has been up to since Return of the Jedi, which makes the character’s appearance in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VIII all the more anticipated. So many questions remain that need answering, and luckily fans don’t have that long to wait until the film’s December 2017 premiere.

Until then, moviegoers will have to make do with the rumor mill, which has ...

Regardless of how you felt about Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters, the chances for a sequel to the film aren’t looking great. Despite mostly positive reviews from critics, its box-office numbers were lower than expected. Does that mean hope is lost for the fans who fell in love with the new, all-female team of Ghostbusters? While a decision regarding the fate of a sequel is still officially up in the air, Feig himself is hopeful he’ll get the chance to helm another ghost-busting adventure.

In a recent interview, the director spoke on the reaction — both negative and positive — to his vision of Ghostbusters, while offering praise for his stars, both on screen and off. With so much online ...

In recent years, Walt Disney Studios has taken to adapting its animated classics to live-action with success both at the box office as well as with critics and casual moviegoers. Disney’s live-action fairytales have either been reinventions of the classic stories — as was the case with both Alice in Wonderland (which received an unsuccessful sequel earlier this year, Alice Through the Looking Glass) and Maleficent — or fairly strict adaptations, such as Cinderella and The Jungle Book.

Disney has a number of other live-action adaptations of animated classics in various stages of development, including a new take on the story of MulanJon Favreau’s ...

In 1991, the popular video game Sonic the Hedgehog was released on Sega Genesis. The game was a runaway success, and was the first of over a dozen titles featuring the Sonic character. Sonic, an anthropomorphic hedgehog who could run at (obviously) sonic speeds, became one of the most iconic video game characters of all time, and was largely responsible for Sega’s success during the 1990s. The character’s popularity eventually led to two animated series in 1993, Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog.

Considering Hollywood’s continued interest in established characters, it should come as no surprise that Sony has announced plans to develop a hybrid live-action/CGI Sonic the Hedgehog movie. The film was confirmed to ...

The last few weeks have been tough on directors of upcoming superhero movies. Fox recently lost director Tim Miller for Deadpool 2 due to creative differences, and now Warner Bros. has met a similar speed bump in the next phase of its extended universe. Although things have been looking good with DC thanks to Wonder WomanJustice League, and Ben Affleck’s upcoming solo film The Batman, the fastest hero alive is having a tough time getting his solo film off the starting block.

Dope director Rick Famuyiwa joined The Flash earlier this year after the project parted ways with previous director Seth Grahame-Smith. The announcement was met with general praise, and all signs pointed towards the production moving full steam ahead. Now it looks as though The Flash is back to square one.

Christopher Nolan, like many of his directorial contemporaries, is a proponent of film over digital in regards to how a movie is presented. The pros of digital filmmaking have been well-documented over the years, but a number of people working in the industry prefer to shoot their projects on film stock, fighting to keep the format alive because they feel its quality is superior. For this reason, Nolan chose to film his latest work, the World War II drama Dunkirk, on 65mm stock.

Unfortunately for filmmakers in Nolan’s camp, many theaters are not equipped to show movies this way, having updated to digital projectors years ago as technology evolved. Since a number of locations have moved on, so to speak, the chance ...

Yes, for whatever reason, the film will feature the presence of King Arthur and Nazis, but you can also expect many returning actors, Transformers characters and much of the same filmmaking team to provide what audiences have come to expect from these movies. This also means hearing some familiar sounds.

X-Men Fan Film Features Cable in Action #movienews

Cable art X-Men Marvel

Despite the multitude of theatrical films Fox has released starring either the X-Men or characters related to the X-Men universe, one fan-favorite hero still yet to make the jump to the live-action realm is Cable, a.k.a. Nathan Summers. A time-traveling mutant cyborg, Cable made his first Marvel Comics appearance back in 1990, in an issue of The New Mutants. Son to Scott “Cyclops” Summers and a clone of Jean Grey, Cable became known to many non-comic readers via a memorable run of appearances in the popular X-Men: The Animated Series.

Cable also has as extensive comic history with Deadpool, so it’s only fitting that Cable is finally set to make his first live-action film appearance in the upcoming sequel Deadpool 2. It remains unclear at this point just who will play Cable in the movie, although Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) himself ...

Jake Gyllenhaal in Life

Sony Pictures will help kickstart the summer season at the end of May 2017 with the sci-fi film Life. Daniel Espinosa (Child 44Safe House) is behind the camera, directing a script from Deadpool writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese. Given the writing duo’s recent efforts, the project was able to attract some big name talent from the likes of Jake Gyllenhaal,  Deadpool himself Ryan Reynolds, and Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation breakout star Rebecca Ferguson as the film’s female lead.

Despite a late May release date, the film and its production have not been a priority for many. However, given the timing of its release, its a good bet Sony is angling for this to be a solid science fiction followup to the studio’s upcoming space drama, Passengers. With the release of the first trailer, audiences can now decide if this outer-space thriller looks like it will have what it takes to be a summer blockbuster.

Mel Gibson’s return to filmmaking with Hacksaw Ridge is one of the biggest stories in Hollywood in 2016. Like Miller, Gibson has a knack for riveting action set-pieces and stunning visuals as a director.

Miller showed with 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road that he still has that knack, even with a whole new cast led by Tom Hardy in the role that launched Gibson’s career. So what did the original Max Rockatansky think of Miller’s thrilling revival of the dormant Mad Max franchise? ...
