Russell Crowe is once again hinting that a sequel to Master and Commander may yet become a reality. In 2003, coming off the megahit Gladiator and at the height of his run as a leading man, Russell Crowe starred in Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, an epic seafaring adventure based on author Patrick O’Brian’s Aubrey-Maturin series of novels. Directed by Peter Weir and set during the Napoleonic Wars in the early 19th century, Master and Commander was one of 2003’s most eagerly awaited films, and landed Crowe on the cover of Time magazine with the headline “Crowe in Command.”
