Starz has renewed its historical sci-fi series Outlander for seasons 5 and 6 – comprised of 12 episodes each – with season 4’s premiere still to come. Based on the series of novels by author Diana Gabaldon, Outlander is a genre-bending drama that combines elements of mystery, adventure, sci-fi, romance, and historical fiction into one big stew that somehow works despite all these disparate ingredients. Debuting on Starz in summer 2014, Outlander’s 16-episode first season was stretched out over two years, and adapted the titular book.
