Captain America: Frank Grillo is Done Playing Crossbones #movienews

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has had its fair share of villains at this point, ranging from the truly memorable like Loki, to the forgettable like Malakith and Ronan the Accuser, all the way to the ones who are probably going to be awesome but we really haven’t seen enough of them to know for sure (Thanos). In addition to their big name antagonists, though, what Marvel has done really well is sprinkle in memorable supporting antagonists throughout their films; characters who play small, but instrumental roles in their film’s plots, but aren’t tasked with being the hero’s main foe.

No name suits that description better than Frank Grillo’s Crossbones either, who appeared briefly in both Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Civil ...

Star Wars: Rogue One Director Gareth Edwards’ Cameo Revealed #movienews

[SPOILERS for Rogue One ahead.]

–

Directors giving themselves cameos in their own movies is nothing new. Sometimes directors want you to be able to spot them easily, as was the case with Alfred Hitchcock and his many famous appearances, but sometimes directors want you to have to work a little bit to pinpoint exactly where they appear.

Everyone knew that Gareth Edwards gave himself a cameo in the blockbuster Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, because he confirmed as much, but no one knew exactly where Edwards appeared. The Internet thus took up the cause of spotting Edwards’ cameo in Rogue One and as usual, the Internet came through with the desired results.

A Star Wars fan named ...

Mute First Look Images & Plot Summary: Duncan Jones’ Blade Runner #movienews

Duncan Jones’ most recent movie, Warcraft, was a CGI-heavy blockbuster adaptation of the MMORPG World of Warcraft. While Warcraft grossed $430 million worldwide, it was critically panned and didn’t perform well commercially in the U.S., raising doubts about the future of the franchise. It remains to be seen if Warcraft gets a sequel for those reasons, but in the meantime Jones is returning to his science-fiction roots with his fourth feature-length directorial efforts, years after he first impressed critics with his debut film, Moon, on a related project titled Mute.

Mute is a science fiction thriller that has already generated multiple comparisons to a film like Blade Runner. Set in Berlin in 2052, it follows bartender Leo, played by Alexander Skarsgård, as ...

How Walt Disney Kept Pinocchio’s Story On Track #movienews

One of Disney Animation’s more famous offerings is their classic 1940 film Pinocchio, which tells the story of a living wooden puppet trying to prove himself worthy of becoming a real boy. The film is known for a combination of memorable characters and great songs, including the Oscar winning track “When You Wish Upon A Star.” Though Pinocchio is now 77 years old, it continues to resonate with audiences and remains a staple of family viewing. It’s so popular that Disney is releasing a new Blu-ray version of the movie this month as part of their Signature Collection.

Of course, the studio will include some new bonus material to make the disc a must-own for collectors and fans, and they’ve now released a short clip from one of those featurettes. It details the early days of Pinocchio‘s development, where Walt Disney himself had to step in to make sure the project stayed on ...

Justice League May Include Arkham Asylum Scenes #movienews

Despite the huge split in opinion when it comes to the most-recent movies that help make up the DC Extended Universe (Suicide Squad and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice), DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Pictures will continue on with releasing their slate of upcoming films; with Wonder Woman right around the corner and superhero team-up Justice League following towards the end of the year.

While information surrounding the Justice League film has been trickling out and speculation surrounding the movie’s second trailer dropping in the spring continues, little has been said about the confirmation that Warner Bros recently made of Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor being part of the Justice League cast. Scheduled to make an appearance, rumors now suggest ...

Golden Globes 2017 Movie Predictions: What Will Win & What Should Win #movienews

Many things can be (and have been) written about 2016 as a whole, but in terms of movies the year saw the release of several critical darlings spread across a variety of genres (sci-fi, superhero, even musical). Filmmakers such as Denis Villeneuve and Damien Chazelle continued to make a name for themselves with their latest directorial efforts, even as cinematic storytellers such as Barry Jenkins and Kenneth Lonergan went from being comparatively obscure auteurs to finding themselves at the front of the pack in awards season. At the same time, everything from unconventional indie offerings to crowd-pleasing Disney features were hailed as being ground-breaking creative accomplishments, over the course of the year.

The year is now 2017 and right around the corner is the 74th ...

Doctor Strange Concept Art: Ryan Gosling is Sorcerer Supreme #movienews

Marvel Studios was able to end 2016 in similar fashion to how it began. While Doctor Strange could not match the financial dominance of Captain America: Civil War, it was met with similarly great reception. Much of the reasoning behind audiences enjoying the film came not only from the trippy visuals, but also Benedict Cumberbatch’s portrayal of Stephen Strange. While Cumberbatch was the clear fan favorite and obviously got the role, it was not always a sure thing. Joaquin Phoenix was reportedly extremely close to signing on, but Marvel had no shortage of big names on their wish list.

One of the stars they also considered was Ryan Gosling. Despite director Scott Derrickson saying Cumberbatch was the only one seriously considered, ...

New Logan Image Questions Wolverine’s Fight or Flight Instinct #movienews

Hugh Jackman has been with the X-Men franchise since it began in 2000, and after 17 years of bulking up to play Wolverine he is nearing the end of his run. Logan will mark Jackman’s ninth appearance in the role he has become synonymous with, despite initial hesitation brought to his casting given his appearance (specifically his height) not being similar to the comics. This time around he is one of the last remaining mutants, with only Professor X (Patrick Stewart), Caliban (Stephen Merchant), and X-23 (Dafne Keen) being among the confirmed mutants to appear.

Buzz is already high with Jackman continuing to state this will be his last time in the role, but Fox’s promotional department has continued to keep expectations high thanks ...

Justice League Trailer #2 Arriving Spring 2017? #movienews

While fans remain sharply divided on the future of Warner Bros’ DC Extended Universe movies following the overwhelmingly negative reception that greeted Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and the critical evisceration of Suicide Squad, most are likely none the less anticipating the impending debut of the first live-action feature film incarnation of Justice League – especially since relatively little has been shown from the film thus far.

Warner Bros debuted the first trailer for Justice League at Comic-Con International in San Diego last summer – more than a year ahead of the film’s release date. Now, a new rumor suggests the second trailer could be released in spring 2017.

The new rumor arrives courtesy of the personal Twitter of entertainment reporter Umberto Gonzalez, previously best known ...
