The LEGO Movie 2 will kick off production this October in Canada, ahead of its 2019 release in theaters. Turning a toy line into a hit film franchise may seem like a difficult task, but so far it’s done better in Hollywood than video game movies. Though only a few have attempted the feat, Transformers‘ success as a franchise certainly helped pave the way. Following a separate path, LEGO has managed to jump from hit toys to video games to two extremely successful films so far. Soon, they will try their luck again with The LEGO Ninjago Movie, following the release of The LEGO Batman Movie earlier this year.
