Luc Besson denies that Lucy 2 is in active development, while also criticizing journalists for making up the story in the first place. Besson – known for action-thrillers and sci-fi films such as Nikita, The Fifth Element, Léon: The Professional – had written and directed the 2014 sci-fi action film, Lucy, starring Scarlett Johansson as the eponymous character. She was transporting a package of unknown drugs, which had been sewn inside her abdomen. When the package broke, it contaminated her system and eventually allowed her to use 100 percent of her brain.
