We know at least one artist set to appear on the soundtrack for Black Panther, as Kendrick Lamar has teased his involvement in a new video. Like many of Marvel’s solo heroes, Black Panther will benefit from the studio’s name and track record. But unlike characters such as Doctor Strange and Ant-Man, Black Panther has a huge following both in and out of comic circles—not to mention his role in last year’s monumentally successful Captain America: Civil War. On top of all the name recognition the character already has from comics, film, and other media, Black Panther will look and feel unlike any other superhero blockbuster.
