A video has been released online featuring Kelly Marie Tran’s audition for the part of Rose Tico in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Although many of the characters in The Last Jedi were previously introduced in 2015’s The Force Awakens, Resistance fighter Rose was the second installment’s most notable newcomer. As one of the most lucrative and popular franchises in film history, Star Wars roles are highly coveted for actors of any stature and although the actress admitted to having never previously seen a Star Wars movie, the part was eventually landed by Kelly Marie Tran – the most high-profile gig of her career by a considerable distance.
