J.J. Abrams says a Cloverfield team-up movie was considered at one point. Fans have been clamoring for a proper Cloverfield sequel since the first movie – directed by Matt Reeves and written by Drew Goddard – hit theaters in 2008, but the idea of making another monster film fell by the wayside when Godzilla and Pacific Rim entered the picture. And so, an anthology series was developed instead.
