There’s good news for Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One as the movie scores a record-breaking opening weekend for Warner Bros. in China.
The Bank Holiday box office was particularly lucrative for the sci-fi spectacle, which is already gathering mostly positive reviews. Dubbed as the director’s return to form, this nostalgic trip to the future contains just about every pop culture Easter Egg a movie buff could want. Also including an all-star cast of Tye Sheridan, Simon Pegg, and Ben Mendelsohn, Ready Player One seems to have the winning formula to corner the lucrative Chinese market.
