Warner Bros. and DC Films are in the early days of creating the DCEU and through three movies, they have yet to completely win over audiences. Man of Steel seemed like a solid solo film that eventually became the first film in the universe. When they made the decision to make Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, it seemed like a sure fire hit. Financially that was the case, but the critical reception caused them to release an extended cut for the home release that featured an extra 30 minutes of footage. Suicide Squad was met with a similar level of divisiveness, which led fans to wonder if it too would get an extended or alternate cut down the road.
