About a month ago, a report was released saying that Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool would be making a cameo in Logan later this year. However, the validity of the news was quickly shot down by Reynolds himself, Logan writer/director James Mangold, and even Hugh Jackman – all of whom expressed their desire to see the two characters cross paths, but just not in Logan. Considering the somber, singular tone that the upcoming standalone film embraces it’s fair to say that having a meta, self-referential character like Wade Wilson pop up out of nowhere would spoil that tone.
