February’s are typically quiet for major film releases, but next weekend will play host to three highly anticipated releases: The LEGO Batman Movie, Fifty Shades Darker, and John Wick: Chapter 2. Fortunately, the three of these cover radically divergent demographics, which should allow all three to prosper with their target audiences. That said, there are a number of filmgoers who don’t mind the genre, so long as the film is a good time.
For those on-the-fence-viewers comes the pre-Super Bowl trailer for the John Wick sequel, courtesy of Lionsgate (see above). The video starts off slow and seductive, coaxing filmgoers to “slip into something a shade darker” this Valentines Day weekend. It then explodes into a cacophony of action beats, relieving the chick flick haters, and hopefully convincing their significant others that John Wick 2 will be a sexy and exciting alternative to Fifty Shades Darker.
