It’s strange to think that the first Pirates of the Caribbean film came out almost 14 years ago now. An action extravaganza featuring an – at the time – critically acclaimed performance from Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, there were clear franchise ambitions in mind for the property coming from both Disney and the filmmakers. No one could have predicted that in the subsequent installments, though, Jack and his friends would go on to fight Blackbeard, mermaids, and even, wrestle on the beach for the still-beating heart of Davy Jones himself. Suffice it to say, the Pirates franchise has gone to some unexpected places over the years.
