With Spider-Man: Homecoming less than six months from premiering, it’s almost hard to remember how exhilarating it was when fans learned that Marvel and Sony had struck a deal to join forces and bring the Web Head into the MCU. Back in those early days of the deal, it was unclear whether Marvel and Sony would take their third crack at adapting Peter Parker to the screen, or if they’d go in another direction. One obvious choice was to hand the webshooters over to Miles Morales, a character who took over for Peter in the Ultimate Spider-Man comics before crossing over to Marvel’s mainstream a couple of years ago.
