Adaptations are huge news in Hollywood, and with good reason. They come with a pre-existing storyline, fanbase, and as a result, are far less risky than an entirely new concept, so it can often seem as though every new movie and TV series is adapted from a novel, video game, anime or comic book. Even toys and emojis are being turned into film franchises! Graphic novels and comic books are particularly desirable for adaptation, from the better-known superheroes of DC and Marvel to smaller titles like Archer and Armstrong, rights to comics and graphic novels are being snapped up by big studios.
