Excitement has been brewing over the Shaft reboot, which has turned into a multi-generational project starring Roundtree, who originated the role of Detective John Shaft in Shaft in 1971; Jackson, who played his nephew (also named John Shaft) in the 2000 reboot; and Independence Day: Resurgence star Usher, who is playing Jackson’s son, John Shaft Jr.
