With fans already “war ready” for Pacific Rim Uprising, director Steven S. DeKnight reveals his ambitious hopes for a possible third entry and beyond.
Guillermo del Toro fought Jaeger against Kaiju in 2013 with a movie that went on to be a surprise summer blockbuster. Effectively a cross between Transformers and Independence Day with an all-star cast of Idris Elba and Charlie Hunnam, Pacific Rim neatly left the door open for a perfectly-marketable sequel. Sadly, while del Toro, Elba, and Hunnam are all out of Uprising, it hasn’t stopped DeKnight planning where the series should go next if he were to return.
