Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World is generally considered a return to form for the iconic franchise, managing to portray the what-if scenario of a dinosaur park actually opening and functioning, without overwriting the original Jurassic Park trilogy. It leaned heavily on the side of nostalgia and while some fans disliked its lack of originality, the film still grossed $1.67 billion worldwide. That sum would be enough for any studio to green-light a sequel, and true to form, reports quickly began to circulate about the exciting potential of Jurassic World 2.
Colin Trevorrow is still attached to the sequel as a script writer, and the influence of Jurassic Park director Steven Spielberg will continue to be apparent in Jurassic World 2. ...
