There was a moment in time when MTV dedicated its programming to all things music: specials, live concerts, music videos, shows centered on music videos such as MTV Live and Total Request Live, and programs that didn’t show music videos but instead delved into the lives of musicians and other celebrities, such as MTV Cribs.
Cribs ran from 2000 to 2011 with a twist on its format during its last years where they showed the homes of regular teenagers living in notable homes, straying away from the celebrity element it originally had. Still, Cribs remains a symbol of the past MTV and it has been spoofed multiple times – the latest one comes straight from Gotham, with host LEGO Batman showing his crib to the new generation.
