In the lowest weekend of the summer box office this year, one of the newcomers managed to come out on top, while the rest struggled against the returning holdovers.
The #1 movie is The Dark Tower (read our review), which emerged victorious in a tight race for first by grossing $19.5 million in its first three days. That figure, while seemingly low for an anticipated adaptation of the beloved Stephen King novels, is pretty much in line with Sony’s estimates.
