Until Disney bought Lucasfilm and brought the Star Wars franchise back for modern audiences, the argument could be made that Harry Potter was essentially the Star Wars of the new generation. Detailing the hero’s journey of the Boy Who Lived, the series introduced readers (and eventually viewers) to a magical, fantasy universe where anything was possible, likable protagonists tasked with defeating ultimate evil, and a memorable musical cue from John Williams. Both worlds are so expansive that their respective studios are even developing spinoff movies to flesh them out even further. This fall, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story should be two major box office hits.
