Lionsgate is launching what could become a lucrative new young adult franchise for the studio (now that the Hunger Games, Twilight and, seemingly, Divergent movie series are done until further notice) in 2017 with Power Rangers: a big screen reboot of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers property that launched Saban Entertainment’s larger Power Rangers brand over two decades ago. A teaser trailer for the film has now been released, offering a sneak peek at the movie’s new versions of the classic Rangers characters Jason (Dacre Montgomery), Kimberly (Naomi Scott), Billy (RJ Cyler), Trini (Becky Gomez) and Zack (Ludi Lin), as well as the reboot’s version of this particular Rangers team’s origin story and backstory alike.
The Power Rangers movie reboot will feature re-imagined versions of several other Mighty Morphin characters and elements too, including the Rangers’ mentor Zordon (Bryan Cranston), Zordon’s robotic associate Alpha 5 (Bill Hader), the villainous Rita Repulsa (Elizabeth Banks) ...
