Wonder Woman star Chris Pine took the opportunity during his opening monologue on Saturday Night Live to mock fellow the confusion over his superhero movie stars named Chris. Pine, of course, is starring as Steve Trevor opposite Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince/Wonder Woman in the film, which will debut June 2.
Pine’s been mostly absent from the marketing push so far which has focused heavily on Gadot, although did step up to make clear that he won’t be playing “a dude in distress,” as some critics suggested. As the film enters its final month before release, Pine’s stepping up to promote it.
Pine hosted SNL to promote the film and used the opportunity to riff on a longstanding joke about the number of Chris’s in superhero movies. Noting that it was his first time hosting, Pine tried to confuse the crowd with his common name; at least in superhero films. ...
