The classic Arnold Schwarzenegger sci-fi action film Terminator 2: Judgment Day is getting a 3D re-release and a new trailer features Terminator creator James Cameron explaining why he thinks the 1991 film is better than ever in 3D.

Marvel Studios Has an Official MCU Timeline Scroll #movienews

While Marvel Studios may not be revealing the information to fans, the company has an actual scroll of events in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for creators to reference. Even to diehard Marvel fans, the timeline of events in the MCU can be a bit wonky. Despite Marvel’s assurances that everything lines up, the lack of a cohesive story group like Lucasfilm has made things tricky. While Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has referenced Daredevil, the former seems contemporary while the latter seems to occur back around the first Avengers. Analog Photos Bring Terror in First Polaroid Trailer #movienews

The Weinstein Company and Dimension Films have released the first trailer for this summer’s horror film Polaroid. Horror films now more than ever are a dime a dozen, as film distributors and producers churn them out with low-budgets to make a half-decent profit. Usually, these films are based around a singular hook or concept stretched out into a feature length film.

The hook of recently release 47 Meters Down was the terror of an underwater shark attack, the upcoming Wish Upon features a possessed, Hellraiser-esque box, and Annabelle: Creation continues the story of the possessed doll from The Conjuring. The hook of Polaroid is right in the title, as seen in the first-look trailer for the film.

Neill Blomkamp’s Oats Studios Releases Second Short Film, Firebase #movienews

Firebase, the second film from Neill Blomkamp’s Oats Studios has been released online, and dabbles in a few genres of science-fiction. It feels like a blend of Predator and The X-Files meets Full Metal Jacket. The first short film, Rakka, was a post-apocalyptic take on an alien invasion.

It’s clear that through these short films, Blomkamp is experimenting with mixing different genres and styles of filmmaking to create stories that are unique and yet strangely familiar. Firebase follows up on the dark, gory vision of science-fiction that flowed through Rakka and definitely provides the shock factor. It’s not for the faint of heart.
