Arnold Schwarzeneggar in Terminator 2

The classic Arnold Schwarzenegger sci-fi action film Terminator 2: Judgment Day is getting a 3D re-release and a new trailer features Terminator creator James Cameron explaining why he thinks the 1991 film is better than ever in 3D.

Cameron made the first Terminator film in 1984 on a relatively modest budget, then came back to make a huge-budget sequel in 1991, with Arnold Schwarzenegger returning to play a kinder, gentler version of the relentless cyborg killer he portrayed in the original. The sequel was a major box office blockbuster, grossing $204 million domestically and $519 million worldwide.

Why Disney Let Marvel Make Spider-Man for Sony #movienews

It has now been revealed why Disney allowed Marvel Studios to make Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Homecoming for Sony Pictures, knowing they wouldn’t receive any money from ticket sales. For years, vocal audiences have been calling for Sony to return the theatrical rights of Spider-Man back to Marvel Studios so that they could finally see the web slinger fight alongside the Avengers on the big screen. Their wishes finally came true last year, with Anthony and Joe Russo’s Captain America: Civil War.

A little over two years ago, Sony reached a landmark agreement with Marvel to share Spider-Man while retaining the rights to the character, thereby allowing the ...

However, things have turned around this summer following Tom Cruise confirming that a sequel was happening, which he thought he would film in the next year. Immediately after this revelation, word of the development continued to spread with an ongoing director search.

Avengers Infinity War cast

It appears that Avengers: Infinity War is going to be featuring scenes set in the ’70s, according to a recent casting call. Anthony and Joe Russo’s upcoming superhero film unites virtually all corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, bringing together Earth’s mightiest heroes with the Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as many others, for the first time ever. Together, they’ll take on the Mad Titan Thanos and his Black Order.

The Russo Brothers began principal photography earlier this year, and they have been filming ever since, though some members of the cast have been busy filming and promoting their own respective movies: Spider-Man: Homecoming,

Marvel Studios Has an Official MCU Timeline Scroll #movienews

While Marvel Studios may not be revealing the information to fans, the company has an actual scroll of events in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for creators to reference. Even to diehard Marvel fans, the timeline of events in the MCU can be a bit wonky. Despite Marvel’s assurances that everything lines up, the lack of a cohesive story group like Lucasfilm has made things tricky. While Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has referenced Daredevil, the former seems contemporary while the latter seems to occur back around the first Avengers. Likewise, Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 will take off right after Avengers 4, but Peter will only be in the next grade rather than having experienced a two-year gap.

1960s Spider-Man TV Show Theme Song

Theme (from "Spider Man") [Original Television Series] by Michael Giacchino on VEVO.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is just one week away from release – and to give the already eager fans another morsel of excitement, Sony has released a snippet of composer Michael Giacchino’s orchestral adaptation of the original Spider-Man theme.

Giacchino is one of the premier composers working in Hollywood today, working on a wide variety of projects both of high and low-profile. Giacchino’s body of work features some of the biggest franchises and studio names in Hollywood, working on films in the Star Trek, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Mission: Impossible and Planet of the Apes series along with multiple scores for Disney and Pixar films like Zootopia, The Incredibles, Up!, and Inside Out. It’s a bit surprising that it took Giacchino until last year to work with Marvel, but his work on Doctor Strange was in fact his first score for the MCU.

Unsurprisingly, ...

Deep Blue Sea 2 Being Developed as Syfy Original Movie #movienews

It’s taken a while, but Deep Blue Sea 2 is finally becoming a real thing. When it comes to top tier films about killer sharks, there is basically only one entry on the list: Steven Spielberg’s Jaws. That legendary film not only created the idea of the summer blockbuster, but made an entire generation of moviegoers scared to death of swimming in the ocean. While in reality it’s become well-known that sharks rarely attack – much less kill – humans, sharks have remained a popular movie monster, albeit rarely approaching the level of quality in Spielberg’s classic.

Another shark flick with a large following though is 1999’s Deep Blue ...

Valerian Extended Clip Introduces the City of a Thousand Planets #movienews

A new clip has been released from Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. From 1967 to 2010, the French comic Valérian and Laureline told the story of two spatio-temporal agents from the 28th century. Valerian and Laureline time-traveled in addition to traveling through space, protecting the many planets of the Terran Empire and working to prevent rogue time travelers from creating paradoxes. Laureline is actually from the 11th century, but is brought to the future and becomes an agent after saving Valerian in her own time and learning who he really is.

Now, the Valérian and Laureline comics are coming to the big screen. Luc Besson wrote and directed Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets – which will be in theaters in three weeks. Starring Dane DeHaan as the title character and Cara Delevingne as his partner, the Valerian clips and trailers promise a movie full of stunning visuals and thrilling action – which early reactions concur with – as Valerian ...

Texas Chainsaw Massacre Prequel Leatherface Sets Release Date #movienews

Leatherface from The Teas Chainsaw Massacre

Leatherface has finally gotten itself an official release date. Cinema history is full of horror franchises that began on top of the pop culture world, only to end up descending into utter ridiculousness as their installments continued. For instance, Friday the 13th‘s Jason Voorhees and Hellraiser‘s Pinhead both went into space, while Halloween‘s Michael Myers eventually abandoned stalking his relatives for the thrills of offing contestants on a reality TV show. All that said, perhaps no slasher icon has endured more indignities than Leatherface, lead villain of Tobe Hooper’s 1974 masterpiece The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

San Diego Comic-Con is staying put in its city of origin, at least until 2021. The convention was held mostly in San Diego hotels for its first two decades, ultimately moving to the San Diego Convention Center in 1991. The convention grew rapidly in the ensuing years, as Hollywood began making comic book movie franchises a centerpiece of its output, with film stars, directors and other luminaries making annual appearances at the big event.

War for the Planet of the Apes - Andy Serkis as Caesar

A new behind the scenes video shows Andy Serkis transforming into Caesar in promotional clip for War for the Planet of the Apes. Serkis, of course, is arguably the most accomplished motion-capture actor in film, having first displayed his skills while playing Gollum in director Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy, starting in 2001. Since then he’s only improved upon his unique talent, reteaming with Jackson to play the title role in 2005’s King Kong and in 2015, eerily bringing the mysterious Supreme Leader Snoke to life in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The big difference with Serkis’ playing Caesar in the new Planet of the Apes trilogy, though, is that the action is largely centered around his character. The first look images for the Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel Leatherface have arrived. After ruling the ’80s, doing pretty well in the ’90s, and hanging on decently in the 2000s, the current decade hasn’t exactly seen much of note produced by classic horror franchises like Friday the 13th, Halloween, and A Nightmare on Elm Street. It’s been 8 years since Jason stalked victims at Camp Crystal Lake, 8 years since Michael Myers tormented Haddonfield – although that particular drought is soon to finally end – and 7 years since New Line’s failed attempt at rebooting Freddy seemed to kill that series dead for good.

Neill Blomkamp’s Oats Studios Releases Second Short Film, Firebase #movienews

Firebase Neill Blomkamp Oats Studios Film

Firebase, the second film from Neill Blomkamp’s Oats Studios has been released online, and dabbles in a few genres of science-fiction. It feels like a blend of Predator and The X-Files meets Full Metal Jacket. The first short film, Rakka, was a post-apocalyptic take on an alien invasion.

It’s clear that through these short films, Blomkamp is experimenting with mixing different genres and styles of filmmaking to create stories that are unique and yet strangely familiar. Firebase follows up on the dark, gory vision of science-fiction that flowed through Rakka and definitely provides the shock factor. It’s not for the faint of heart.

Firebase focuses on an American soldier pitted against mysterious forces in the Vietnamese jungle, some of which appear to be fellow soldiers but with a gruesome secret hiding beneath their skin. Once they shed their human layers, they look like ...

There’s No Plan or Backstory For Uncle Ben Yet in MCU #movienews

Spider-Man Uncle Ben

[SPOILERS for Spider-Man: Homecoming.]

In Spider-Man comics and movies, a character who has been a consistent source of inspiration for Peter Parker is Uncle Ben, who delivers the famous line: “With great power comes great responsibility.” Despite the character’s importance in Spider-Man’s life, Uncle Ben is noticeably absent in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Though Peter has already become Spider-Man prior to the film, some fans expected a flashback or even a reference to the character’s iconic death scene following Peter’s decision to selfishly allow a criminal to escape.

Co-producer Eric Carroll revealed in an interview with Screen Rant that Ben is referenced; however, ...

An original R2-D2 prop used in several Star Wars films has sold for a staggering $2.76 million at auction. R2-D2, along with his droid counterpart C-3PO, is without question one of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars universe. The Jetsons Live-Action TV Series in Early Development #movienews

The Jetsons

A live-action Jetsons TV series is in development at Warner Bros. The Jetsons originally appeared as a Hanna-Barbera animated series in the ’60s, about an average family living in the future. The show was filled with ‘futuristic’ technology, including flying ‘cars’, robot servants, and a whole bunch of things that have since become part of our day-to-day life, like flat screens, video chat, and smart watches.

The heart of the series, however, wasn’t in the fancy new gadgets, but in the funny dynamic of the family themselves. Like The Simpsons, The Jetsons is all about life at home. Although the show only ran for three seasons (only one of which was aired in ...

Cameron Monaghan as Carnage Fan Art

A new piece of fan art reveals what Cameron Monaghan could look like as Cletus Kasady/Carnage in the Venom solo film. And in terms of iconic comic book villains that fans have been wanting to see come to life on the big screen, Carnage sits right near the top of the list as one of the few, extremely monstrous antagonists to not have ever been in a live-action film. Now, that’s not necessarily much of a surprise since the Spider-Man franchise has not only been rebooted three times now but has also recycled some of the same villains over again across the different iterations. That, and also the fact that Carnage is one of the ...

New Mutants: Alice Braga Replaces Rosario Dawson in Cast #movienews

Alice Braga in The Rite

Alice Braga has been cast in New Mutants, in a role that originally had Rosario Dawson lined up to play. Over the past several months, New Mutants has transformed from one of Fox’s numerous long-in-development X-Men films into one of the more unique and promising superhero movies slated to come out next year. That’s in no small part thanks to the film’s all-star cast of young up and coming actors, which includes Anya Taylor-Joy as Magik and Maisie Williams as Wolfsbane, Charlie Heaton as Cannonball, Blu Hunt as Mirage, Henry Zaga as Sunspot, and more.

But in a cast that’s mostly filled with younger actors in the industry, a report last month came ...

It’s no secret that Warner Bros. has struggled getting Wonder Woman onto the big screen. Captain Marvel is still quite a way from flying into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but Kevin Feige isn’t phased by the Avengers first solo female-led film – especially given that Wonder Woman has clearly shown that a female hero is nothing to be afraid of. In fact, Feige thinks Marvel will profit from the Amazonian’s recent success. Marvel might be playing catch-up to DC in terms of getting a female hero their own film, but Feige isn’t worried.

Speaking to the press, Feige noted that Marvel’s plans for Captain Marvel have been in the works for a while, and they’ve put a lot of effort into ...

One of the more memorable and humorous moments of the Spider-Man: Homecoming press tour was the initial confused reaction of Marvel President Kevin Feige when producer Amy Pascal made reference to potential crossover between Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Sony’s upcoming Venom and Silver & Black movies.

With a visible gulp and a pained, nervous look on his face, Feige’s reaction was thrown into a pit with the wolves of the internet, who used it to concoct hilarious videos and memes that had the potential to become the stuff of internet legend. From a respectful homage to the “Sound of Silence” video featuring Sad Ben Affleck ...

A High-Res Look at the Justice League LEGO Sets #movienews

We’ve gotten our first high-res look at the LEGO sets for Justice League coming out later this year. Those sets, along with their descriptions, offer some hints as to what we can expect to see in the film. With each set showing each member of the League, we also get a glimpse of the film’s villain, Steppenwolf (played by Ciarán Hinds). The three sets we see here are ‘Battle of Atlantis’, ‘Knightcrawler Attack‘ and the ‘Flying Fox Attack‘. All of these are presumably based on scenes in the movie.

The Justice League trailer offers a glimpse of a big mechanical beast piloted by Batman (Ben Affleck), among other things. That has also ...

Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth)

Spider-Man himself Tom Holland has responded to Chris Hemsworth’s Avengers: Infinity War rehearsal” video where the Thor actor, bent out of shape about his character being excluded from a table full of Marvel action figures, grabbed his hammer and showed what Thor would do if pitted against his fellow Avengers. Thor of course was also excluded from the massive rumble at the airport in Captain America: Civil War, and so didn’t get a chance to use his hammer on Iron Man, Spider-Man or any of the other many superheroes featured in that sequence.

Needless to say, things did not work out well for the other Avengers when Thor got to whomping ...

Spider-Man's rogues gallery

While we’ve seen a number of key Spidey villains on the big screen so far, Marvel head Kevin Feige says the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequels will set their sights on new faces. What just a few years ago seemed impossible has arrived. Though Spidey showed up in last year’s Captain America: Civil War, the release of his first solo movie in the MCU feels like a more concrete assurance that the wall-crawler is here to stay. Spider-Man: Homecoming Starting Production; Set Images & Casting Update

Spider-Man: Homecoming costar Hannibal Buress hired a double to take his place at the movie’s world premiere last night in Los Angeles. Several members of the Homecoming cast and crew were in attendance at the event, with some of them making flashy entrances into the highly-publicized event.

Again, we should say most of the stars of the film were in attendance, at least. For some actors, world premieres are just merely another marketing event that they are required to attend, and not every performer is either comfortable with or excited by that idea. One of the stars of Homecoming found a humorous way to fulfill both his ...
