Marvel’s dizzying teaser trailer for Thor: Ragnarok has finally gotten the 8-bit treatment. The long-awaited third installment in the Thor franchise brings back the same familiar faces in leading man Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, and Sir Anthony Hopkins as Odin. It will also dig deeper into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with supporting roles from Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk and Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Stephen Strange.
Despite the return of familiar characters, the early promotion and first teaser trailer for Thor: Ragnarok indicates that the sequel will have a lighter tone than the first two installments under new director Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows). Also, the striking logo for Ragnarok released nearly a year ago has a retro video game feel to it.
