DC Comics’ Shazam! officially starts filming, with director David F. Sandberg sharing the first photo from the movie’s set. Following the release of both Wonder Woman and Justice League in 2017, director James Wan’s Aquaman will be the only DC Film to hit theaters in 2018. However, DC and Warner Bros. already have two films lined up for theatrical release in 2019, in the forms of Sandberg’s Shazam! and Patty Jenkins’ sequel Wonder Woman 2.
Shazam! will be “funny” though not necessarily quip-happy, and will featured a whole lot of kid characters. As such, the movie will attempt to both recapture the Golden Age spirit of the titular superhero character to life and deliver the most family-friendly DC Film to date, at the same time.
