Marvel honors their female characters on International Women’s Day. Over the years, Marvel Studios has been chastised about the lack of diversity in the MCU. While female characters have been existing in the franchise, they were mostly there to serve the main male hero. Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow was the only female traditional superhero in the movie, and even she was mostly cast aside to give way to her male counterparts.
