Ever since Warner Bros. announced they were using Man of Steel as a springboard to a DC shared universe (a la Iron Man with the MCU), everything has been building towards Justice League. A two-part team-up was the centre of the DC Extended Universe’s gameplan and while it’s now just a single movie, it’s still an essential film, one that’s been set up through Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad and the upcoming Wonder Woman, but also has a lot of weight on it to allay criticism of all three of the films so far.
