Barry Jenkins

Moonlight director Barry Jenkins will team with Black Panther movie actor Chadwick Boseman for the thriller Expatriate. Boseman wrote the movie’s script himself along with his writing partner Logan Coles. Universal will back the film, described as being in a similar vein to The Fugitive.

Jenkins became one of the hottest directors in Hollywood after Moonlight claimed the Best Picture award at last year’s Oscars. The coming-of-age film, starring Mahershala Ali, Naomie Harris and Janelle Monae, snagged eight nominations including Best Director for Jenkins. Last fall, Jenkins started work on his follow-up, an adaptation of James Baldwin’s If Beale Street Could Talk. Jenkins is also reportedly developing an Underground Railroad series for Amazon.
