Filmmaker Neill Blomkamp has confirmed in a tweet that he’s officially “moved on” from his idea for making a sequel in the Alien franchise. Following a half-dozen film shorts shot in his native South Africa from 2004 to 2008, Blomkamp burst onto the scene both stateside and abroad in 2009 with his inventive alien invasion film District 9, which became a worldwide hit by grossing nearly $211 million against a $30 million budget.
