The new Avengers: Infinity War Prelude comic reveals that Hawkeye is officially retired when Avengers: Infinity War begins. Things have been looking bad for Hawkeye for some time. The Avenging Archer has always been a little out of his depth during the various world-ending battles of the MCU, but a tussle with Thanos doesn’t bode well. Nor does the reveal of Hawkeye’s secret family in Avengers: Age of Ultron, which provides the hero with more to lose than most of his teammates. We’ve heard Avengers 3 does wondrous things for Hawkeye as a character, but there’s no guarantee his arc isn’t a tragic one.
