Released in 2011 and based on the non-fiction book Goon: The True Story of an Unlikely Journey Into Minor League Hockey (by Adam Frattasio and Doug Smith), Goon stars American Pie actor Seann William Scott in the role of Doug “The Thug” Glatt – a dimwitted bouncer turned minor league hockey player who becomes an all-star enforcer in Canada. The original sports comedy was co-written by frequent Seth Rogen cohorts Jay Baruchel and Evan Goldberg, and managed to become something of a sleeper hit with general audiences.
