Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has a lot riding on its shoulders. To say that Star Wars: The Force Awakens performed exceptionally well last December would be an understatement. Domestically, the film is now the number one box office performer of all time. But that film had the benefit of not only a 10-year dearth of Star Wars in the theaters but also acting as a sequel to the beloved original trilogy. As a standalone story with no ties to the Skywalkers, (other than a purportedly brief appearance by Darth Vader), Rogue One will either prove or tank the notion that the galaxy far, far away has more to offer than the legacy of one family.
