The film industry has long been interested in breathing new life into old franchises. Whether that comes in the form of long awaited sequels, complete reboots, or a hybrid of both options, these films continue to be made. However, successful attempts are few and far between. Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens is the gold standard for revitalizing interest in a franchise, but just this year movies like Zoolander 2, Jason Bourne, or Ghostbusters have proven how difficult this can be. In the coming years, more of these attempts will be made, with Ocean’s 8 being among one of the more interesting properties.
