Despite occurring in a Captain America “solo” film, this year’s Civil War may have featured the highest quantity of name-brand super-people ever to duke it out on the big screen. With so much super-hoopla, it can be easy for an audience to forget how much work goes into every shot in a film this big. While many of the more extravagant shots are obvious (and necessary) digital fabrications, it’s easy to forget how many little ways CG punctuates a shot which may look shot on location with two guys in super-suits.
Some of these, like Black Panther, were coming to the big screen for the first time. Others, like Spider-Man, were returning in a reinvented form. But partially because both characters saw costume refinements after the process of filming, an incredible amount of CG work was done to fine tune the products for the big screen.
