One of the more intriguing sequels that is moving into production in the near future is Pacific Rim: Maelstrom. The biggest reason for the sequel moving forward is the impressive financial haul that Pacific Rim did overseas. After taking in just over $100 million domestically, the foreign markets accounted for three times as much. Even after a successful first film, changes are being made across the board for the sequel. Guillermo Del Toro is not returning as the director, with Daredevil season 1 showrunner Steven S. DeKnight taking over control of the Jaegers. Inside of the giant robots will presumably be two new leads, John Boyega and Scott Eastwood.
