Now that Marvel Studios has closed out its 2016 slate by introducing audiences everywhere to Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme in Doctor Strange, all eyes can now turn toward the future. 2017 is a big year for the studio; there will be three films hitting theaters with only one of them, Spider-Man: Homecoming offering fans an entirely terrestrial adventure. The other two, Thor: Ragnarok and the movie that will kick things off, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, will take viewers on a pair of intergalactic adventures to explore the outer reaches of the MCU.

The latter film has been repositioned from its role as a risky outlier in Marvel’s production schedule to what is now presumed to be a surefire hit, hence why it will be the studio’s first cinematic offering of the new year. But for all the anticipation, and all that’s known about ...
