The teaser trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 did an excellent job in stoking fan excitement for the cosmic Avengers sequel, the first of three Marvel Studos movies debuting in 2017. It was light on plot, but promised a movie that captures the same level of fun and weirdness of James Gunn’s original, which in 2014 pushed the Guardians of the Galaxy characters from obscurity to icons.
