Yesterday, we were all saddened by news that actor John Hurt had passed away at the age of 77. With a career that spanned some six decades and included countless, memorable performances – from a breakout role in A Man for All Seasons and his celebrated turn as John Merrick in The Elephant Man, to his roles in the sci-fi classic Alien and the Harry Potter series – it’s tough to imagine a world in where Hurt isn’t acting, seeing as he spent so much of life either on stage or screen.
