In looking for way to reinvent the X-Men universe, Fox handed the reins to Matthew Vaughn, who turned in X-Men: First Class. Although the director didn’t continue with the mutant franchise, he did help create a whole new one by returning to a familiar source: writer Mark Millar. The result was Kingsman: The Secret Service, a surprise hit owing to its fun tone, over-the-top violence, and the charm brought by Taron Egerton in the lead role of Gary ‘Eggsy’ Unwin.
