There’s no one reason why Star Wars remains as popular today as it was on the original’s release 40 years ago. You could point to the timeless story of good vs. evil, the world-building, or the well-developed characters. Truthfully, it’s a blend of all of this, mixed with exciting action, tense drama, and, of course, the music.
John Williams’s score is one of the most recognizable film scores in cinematic history. There’s no doubt his work helped propel the franchise deep into our cultural psyche. Even his work on the prequel trilogy stands out as a high point, especially ‘Duel of the Fates’ from The Phantom Menace.
