The Fast & Furious franchise is but one of several big-time Hollywood properties that has a fresh installment hitting theaters in 2017. Fast & Furious is up to eight movies now and those behind the franchise have gotten increasingly creative with how they name each new chapter over time. That trend, in some ways, began with the second film (2 Fast 2 Furious), but it has since given rise to installments titled Fast Five and Furious Seven.
Next year’s Fast & Furious 8 was previously being referred to as simply Fast 8, though it appears that Universal Pictures has had a change of heart and has now re-titled the film as: The Fate of the Furious.
