During the last few years, the a cappella female comedy franchise, Pitch Perfect, has been quite the surprise. The first movie, headlined by Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson, showcased how they could put a new spin on “musicals” in a non-traditional manner. The Bellas came back last year to mixed reviews, but that did not stop Pitch Perfect 2 from doubling the worldwide gross. Despite that success, Pitch Perfect 3 hit a bump in the road when Elizabeth Banks announced she would not return to direct as initially planned, but the film has since course corrected itself to get back on track.
