After a disappointing end to the first X-Men trilogy, Fox sought to continue the world through Wolverine solo adventures, but those efforts were not welcomed by audiences. They since soft rebooted the franchise by going back in time to tell the stories of the main X-Men from the first movies as their younger selves.
