Although still in its relative infancy, the DCEU has seen two distinct directorial styles in its three cinematic offerings. Zack Snyder’s eye shepherded both Man of Steel and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice to theaters, while David Ayer brought this summer’s Suicide Squad to the mix, aiming to bring a gritty feel to match its villains-as-heroes storyline. But before he was leveling entire metropolises with an alien dubstep machine and an extended Kryptonian fistfight, Snyder brought his directorial sensibilities to an adaptation of Alan Moore’s acclaimed Watchmen miniseries.
